Vincent Venus

On this website I write about EU politics and political communications. My perspective is explicit: pro-European & social-democratic. Most articles are only published in German.

My name is Vincent Venus and I am a European born 1989 in Berlin. I have followed the European Studies programme at Maastricht University, where I graduated in 2012. One year later I went back to Maastricht to study European Public Affairs and received my M.A. in the summer of 2014. My master thesis analysed the election campaigns of the leading German parties in the European election 2014.

I support the Young European Federalists (JEF). In October 2014 the Federal Congress of the German section elected me as Federal Secretary. Beforehand I served the executive board for four years, taking care of public & media relations, being responsible for the website and several online accounts: Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. This way I am able to combine my two big passions: Europe and political communications.

Furthermore, I am a Social Democrat. I interned at the offices of MP Dietmar Nietan and MEP Jo Leinen in 2012/2013, and worked for the Social Democratic Party (SPD) in the national (2013) and European election (2014).

In September 2014 I moved to Texas to support a Democratic State House candidate and learn about US campaigning.

Next to that, I gathered some experience in journalism. I wrote several articles for the Berlin newspaper Tagesspiegel and one essay for the Dummy-Magazin. This website is thus also meant to further train my writing skills.

You are very much welcome to discuss European affairs on this website. You can do so via the comment section, Twitter or the contact page. You are also invited to subscribe to my RSS.
